Blood n Fire Lake
A shallow putrid lake of blood. There are tiny reefs in it made from piles of garbage. Half of the garbage is always on fire.
- Alcove to under-castle
- This is a 20' wide alcove that opens back to the basement-beach. There are shallow lagoons of brown bloody muck here.
- Border-beach
- A narrow beach between the cavern walls and the lake. A "rim".
- There is one mining mule (w 40sp) dinking around here. It is nude.
- There are five camps of mutually-mistrusting monsters camped around the rim.
- The monsters in each camp are: 7 bugbears, 12 flayers, 11 vermus (hob2), 1 undead frogman (a zombie, made of a cueyatl), 5 feral men
- Blood-lake
- The lake is 20 miles across. There's monsters in the lake (mostly reef terros) and also monsters sailing around the lake. Some are on rafts and some are on skiffs.
- Rowing through it, every 8 miles (~80 minutes) one encounters:
- A burning garbage pile
- A doused garbage pile
- A monster wading in the lake
- A monster sailing on the lake
- A flying monster (strix, harpy, or imp)
- A group of hostile men are rowing around on canoes: canoe 1 is a tall reaper and a skeleton. canoe 2 is a short reaper and a skeleton. canoe 3 is the reapers' two feral men (bandits).
- the tall reaper wears a beaver hat (w 65s)
- the short reaper keeps a small peridot (w 250s) in the tongue of his left boot
- the 2 feral men have shortbows; one is a shortbow +1 and another is ornamented with blooming trees
- Burning garbage piles
- A hot heap of burning garbage. Mainly flotsam. Some have poop or dead bodies on it.
- Doused garbage piles
- This is garbage that is not currently burning or smoldering. There may be something on it (determined with d6).
- 1: Depth 0 group of 2d4
- 2: Depth 1 group of 1d4
- 3: Garbage-pile roll
- 4: Pile of blood-soaked burned wood
- 5: Stack of slime, bones, scabs, and rusty sharp metal
- 6: Heap of wet old clothes and discarded bandages
- On one non-burning garbage island, there are four vermuses staving off seven reef terrors. The crabs are crawling out of the blood.
Cliff Wolf Temple
(A place where priests who sought the end of man fed prisoners to wolves.)
- Wolf Throne
- Raised platform of stone, covered with ancient furs.
- An ancient throne made of chert is empty, 4 vagrants are relaxing on the fur carpet. One of the beggars wears a silver pendant that resembles a half-moon (w 75sp).
- Clunked under the throne is a 3'x3' sheet of parchment ... a deed to a border march in the vrykarrs, to someone named "kalzuk", with rights of crenellation. signed by "norrath".
- Butcher Zone
- Big stone floorspace with a stone adze, a curved knife, and iron cleavers.
- On a chopping block is a book written in Reanaarian (titled "Mysteries of the Nanakary"; worth 250sp)
- There are a few ancient buckets of blood on the floor. There is a small stoppered pot on the table (a potion of orcish steadfastness) appearing to be gamy russet cloudy honey.
- Rectory
- Benches arranged around a clunky square table made of dark and odorous wood.
- There is a 3lb sack of cinnamon (w 210sp) on one bench, and a curved yellow dagger (w 80sp) sticking through it into the wood.
- Barracks
- 18 Heaps of furs and rags on a stone floor.
- There is a "young robust woman" who reposes in here (a hag). She hides a knife stylized as a rat tail (w 120sp).
- Smokehouse
- A windowless room with a door. There is a small iron chimney high in the wall. The center of the stone floor contains a circle of spent charcoal.
- There are hooks hanging up, with haunches of ancient meat hanging from them.
- Tannery
- 4 benches 4' high with triangular ridges. A drawknife and a few small knives are on a log stool.
- There is a sunken circle in the stone floor, with a coin-sized drainage outlet.
- There is a single white fox fur in the tannery worth 5sp.
- There is a male bugbear named Brigli skulking in here with 2 its two pet human laborers (Yamis and Zolo). The bugbear is on a quest to capture a baby. The bugbear wears dog fur boots worth 20sp; Yamis carries a 30oz sack of jasmine worth 80sp; Zolo is concealing a tiny sapphire worth 250sp.
- In a yard beside the tannery is a hutch of 20 pigs gnawing on bones and cave lichens (each pig worth 2sp).
- Root Cellar
- Small set of double doors, with a staircase downward.
- It goes to a single square room with busted old wooden racks and piles of broken clay pieces.
- Underneath the splinters is a closed flask (tonic of intemperence), appearing to be a flask of vinegary green muddy egg-yolk.
- On the floor in the root cellar is a taxidermied eagle (w 5sp).
Fire-Smoke Cave
A cramped cave full of black smoke.
- Fire cave
- This 20x20 rock cave is completely full of smoke, and also has an active burning fire going on, burning simply on the rock floor of the cavern.
- Soot cave
- This cave isn't completely thick with smoke like the other parts of the smoke-cavern. There is only a thin haze. The walls and floor are crusted with cracked black soot.
- There's a +1 weapon (suited for the pc party) lying in the soot.
- Cramped cave
- Hot smokey cave cramped altogether with stalagmites and odd holes all over the walls, with uneven levels of flooring.
- There is a glint in one of these smokey holes.. inside is a miniature coffin with a hinged lid, made of brass (w 20sp).
- There is one male bugbear hiding in here (named Dugmit)
- Spikey-rock hot cave
- A cave where there is no even flooring, only spike-shaped pointy bricklike rocks sticking out of the ground all over the floor.
- There are a few mounds of rubble that are over nine feet high.
- 4 feral men (bandits) are trying to navigate this place. They are wounded. They will possibly still be hostile.
- Ol prison parts cave
- A warm cave with iron bar doors lying on the floor, and rusted iron bars lying around the place. It is hot, about 200F.
- (all wearing one rag) 1 flayer and 4 feral men (bandits) are heating themselves up in here, seeing if they can burn each other with hot rusty bars for fun.
Glacier
28-mile diameter glacier with cavern-like spaces piled atop each other. Connected by tunnels that intersect and go vertical at points. Floating atop the plain old ocean. Includes some ravines.
- Wide Ravine
- Ravine 80' across and wider at the top. It appears to be quite open to the airspace of the larger cave that the glacier is floating in.
- There's a two-wheel cart here in good shape (carries ~420lbs) (w 60sp).
- Down here there are 4 deep stalkers (hob2) trying to pretend like this ice and slush is their stretch of sea.
- Narrow Ravine
- A ravine 2-10' wide at the bottom, with a lot of trudging up and down small ice hills every 20'.
- Dinking around in the ravine attracts one giant crab (hob2).
- Ocean pool Cave
- Enclosed ice-cave with a pool of ice-cold saltwater, leading simply into the ocean.
- At times deep ones or reef terrors from the moonpool will notice who is in this room, and they will attack or steal if they think it will be easy.
- Upper snow cavern
- Vast, mostly spherical cave full of hard, powdery snow. Contains a few ledges and a switchback path out. Has two entrances.
- There's a tiny altar with an embedded +1 weapon (suited for the pcs).
- Ice cube cave
- Small cavern with an even covering of large 5-10' ice cubes. Floor is extremely slippery. Small 1' tunnels are in many of the walls.
- Embedded within 3' of ice is a marble sculpture of a short middle-aged man pointing (w 55sp).
- Abandoned larder
- Ice cave that was once used as a larder or butchery. Full of freezerburnt bones and cutting boards soaked with rotten-smelling slush. There are double cellar doors on the floor (which don't open to anything, they are just furniture parts).
- There is 1 hurrkling in here (usually sleeping) bossing around 4 laborers to dig up frozen hams and frozen roasted ducks.
- Atop the ice is an octagonal bronze flagon with ivory lining (w 250sp).
- Waterfall cave
- A 100' cave featuring a slow-moving waterfall. The waterfall washes out to a natural drainage sluice made of icicles. Most of the room is a pool of freezing water. There is a snow-covered bridge made of ice in the middle of the glacier water, which leads from one end of the room to the other.
- There's a small balcony sill looking at the waterfall. There's a stoppered jar on it. It contains odorless brown transluscent oil (a potion of mind control)
Stray Animal Zone
Muddy underground beach full of loose animals. There are a few fishing and food-scavenging spots. There are cats and dog packs, and sometimes ornery goats.
- Southeast pool
- A rot-filled watering hole. A few packs of dogs are lazing around (roughly 39 dogs).
- Northeast pool
- A deep saltwater pool with a gaggle of stray cats lazing around (roughly 22 cats).
- A blue bottle is next to the pool. It is full of "lemony blue muddy syrup" (a potion of orc steadfastness).
- Shack
- A ramshackle shack made of salt-bleached driftwood planks with one door and one small window.
- Possible interiors
- 1-2: inside is an empty pit 20' deep
- 3 : inside is an empty pit of burning bones
- 4-5: furnished and occupied
- 6 : furnished and empty
- (furnishing):
- dirty straw bed, fireplace full of scrap wagon wood, baskets of pickled eggs
- (occupant):
- 1: friendly vagrant
- 2: corpse of a giant crab
- 3: hostile merman (trident, 9th lvl caster)
